Claire Danes to take over Gucci jewelery campaign from Drew Barrymore. "Claire Danes is a modern icon and one of the most interesting young actresses on the international scene. The campaign is due to break out this fall.

Kate not only was photographed for the campaign with those cute lion cubs, but also took part in creating the natural cosmetics - free of sulphates and parabens. The main theme of the new hair care and styling line is "the nature in beauty and the beauty in nature".

Sofia Coppola and Francis Ford Coppola to be the new duo of Louis Vuitton Core Values

Is Ali coming back?

Ali Michael, a 17-year-old American model, the first face at Lanvin, after gaining 5 pounds didn't get almost any shows this season. So in February she decided not to starve herself anymore and quit modeling. But surprisingly this month we can find her on the cover of Japanese Spur (she was also interviewed for the magazine - hope, somebody at TFS will translate it) and in this ed for Vogue Russia. I'm really curious, what's going to happen with her.

Item of the week 26.04.08

Zac Posen silver dress. I love the way the waist is accended by this oversized bow detail at the front. Mini length gives the impression of never-ending legs. You can get it at Net-a-porter.com for $2 200.

I couldn't resist not to tell you...

Today at a gym I met Ana Nocon (Anna Nocoń), one of the best-known Polish models. She's from Gdańsk, but studies in Kraków. There are not many models and fashion designers around here, so that was kind of experience for me. Hope to see her more often, she's such a cutie. You can look through her profile at style.com. The picture comes from the April issue of Elle US.

Today's inspiration:

The suit in its many versions can be perfect for all those women, who don't feel very well in super-feminine styles which dominated runways this season. If well played, suit can be a perfect base for creating a work outfit (Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent). But you can go a step further and choose very classy gentlemen look (Ralph Lauren, Jens Laugesen) to surprise some men around you:)

Karl Lagarfeld, Jens Laugesen, Dolce&Gabbana, Haider Ackermann

Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Maison Martin Margiela, Lanvin

Fore more edgy, even gothic and punky style, look for some inspiration at Dior's and Karl Lagarfeld's shows. You don't have to wear a jacket to get the look, but you may use a hat or a classy vest instead.

Thakoon, Karl Lagarfeld, Dior (twice)

But let's not forget, that it's summer coming. We may also go short with the style.

Thakoon, Phi, Ann Demeulemeester, Alexander McQueen

And last, but not least, some good examples from street fashion and wardrobe_remix.

To była notka dedykowana. Zainteresowany na pewno świetnie zdaje sobie z tego sprawę.

Do you miss sometimes those bulky shoulder pads from 80's? They're back... sort of. There have been a lot of accentuated shoulders recently on the runways. And it doesn't matter do they remind you of a middle-age armor, American football shoulder pads or an outfit from science-fiction movies - all of the versions are "it" this season.

The top line: Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga; the bottom one: Fendi, Alexander McQueen, Christian Lacroix.

News of the week 21.04.08.

Rachel Clark to become the new Victoria's Secret 'Angel'. According to NY Mag she gave away the news on her private blog at the beginning of April. She's such a pretty girl, but to me Rachel is too immature for being VS 'Angel' - she's 19, lets slip such important information and as she's asked about her hobby, she says "on-line role-playing games and reading comic books".

Vogue Espana celebrates their 20th anniversary with four different Kate Moss covers. Stars were the theme of the shoot with Kate wearing Chanel jump suit and Yves Saint Laurent white satin star print dress. The pictures were taken by Nick Knight. Happy b-day, Vogue Espana:)

Rumors say, that Linda Evangelista is about to become the new face of Prada. Steven Meisel was shooting reportedly Linda this week for the Prada Fall/Winter campaign, but it could also be for the upcoming issue of Vogue Italia.

Hello Kitty is about to be... the new face of John Galliano for Dior. The Kitty will be posing in the new collection in the upcoming issue of Vogue Nippon. Isn't that... something else?

Wide leg jeans

Source: Stockholm Street Style, The Sartorialist, Denim Blog (Kate Walsh and Jennifer Love Hewitt)

This trend proves that chic doesn't necessarily mean uncomfortable. Wide leg jeans were brought back into fashion last spring with this whole return of the sailor style. They are such an antidote for those, who are already sick of skinny denim pants. And they have a huge advantage over super tight jeans - wide pants are perfect for all kinds of body shapes (some examples of that here). Celebrities are also in love with them. Impossible not to be.

News of the week 14.04.08.

Elizabeth Hurley this week celebrated thirteen years of being Estee Lauder's face. She started working for them in her 20's, now she's 42 and appears in a campaign of Wrinkle Lifting Serum. "Her 13 year tenure with us is a near record in the beauty industry and we're very proud of our relationship" said Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of the company. Hurley will also join fellow spokemodels: Hilary Rhoda, Gwyneth Paltrow and Carolyn Murphy in Estee Lauder's new fragrance campaign.

Kate Moss, a year after loosing her contract with Agent Provocateur, has been invited to front their new campaign. Given the rumours that she is about to marry Jamie Hince, the collection is bridal-themed.

2.5 milion plastic bottles are thrown away every hour in the United States only. That's why Elle magazine and Sigg Switzerland asked Stella McCartney, Diane Von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, Michael Kors, Philip Lim, Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Anna Sui, Brian Reyes, Chris Benz, Peter Som and Sienna and Savannah Miller to design own unique Sigg aluminum water bottles. There'll be auctioned off on Ebay today, the money will be donated to this organization. You can see the bottles here.

Alexander McQueen doesn't want Paris Hilton as a customer as he opens his new boutique in Los Angeles in a few weeks.
“If she comes past the shop, hopefully she’ll just keep walking,” McQueen told the Independent newspaper “I don’t really covet that sort of thing.”

Yay for Natalia

This month Natalia Vodianova got this wonderful Vogue Italia cover, shot by Steven Meisel. Natalia's wearing Fendi SS08 here. Everything perfect, but why do they use the word "icon" again? Iconic for me is Audrey or Marlene, not Natalia nor Agyness. Or maybe it's not about the model herself, but refers to the content of this issue. We'll see.

This week it was also released May Vogue UK. Natalia is on the cover again and has this whole editorial "To Russia with Love" dedicated to her and Moscow. Definitely a must-have for all Vodianova fans (like me). It's her third May cover of the magazine in a row (2006, 2007 here).

Madonna is back

She's always coming back, no matter what. Madonna (turns 50 this year) releases "Hard Candy" - her new (11th!) album at the end of the month and now she's simply everywhere. You can already find the first single "4 minutes" on-line, it's video premiere is tomorrow.
And because of the new album Madonna recently got a few covers. It started last month - she was photographed by Steven Klein for Dazed&Confused. In May she's already on the covers of Elle US, Elle UK, Vanity Fair and Q Magazine, but I believe that's not all for the month. At the bottom - behind the scenes video found at Elle.com.

Multiracial is pretty

Wow! This thread has drawn some controversies (I got so many e-mails!). Now, after studying Ethnicity and Migrations at my univ I would not have written it in this way, but I'm leaving it here for future reference.

Six models, six different combinations. Although Latino/Hispanic is not a separate race, I treated it here as a fourth one.

Devon Aoki: Asian/Caucasian (Japanese, German, English, American)

Juliana Imai: Asian/Caucasian (Japanese, Portuguese)

Aline Nakashima: Asian/Caucasian/Latino (Japanese, Portuguese, Brazilian)

Adriana Lima: Latino/Caucasian/African (Brazilian, French, Portuguese, American, unknown African nationality)

Miranda Kerr: Caucasian/Asian (Australian, Serbian, Iranian, Turkish, Filipino)

New icon?

OK, so here's the thing - as most of you probably know Aggy got six covers of May i-D issue and all of them will be published. I could understand that - it's a good way to sell as many magazines as possible, because all Aggy-freaks will try to get all the covers. But giving her label "Icon" is just too much for me - this girl is on the runways for not even two years. I used to like her, now I'm sick of her. More here.
